V was a line operated by the Los Angeles Railway from 1920 to 1958, and by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority from 1958 to 1963. It ran from Vernon and Monroe (Los Angeles City College) to Vernon and Santa Fe Avenues in Vernon, by way of Monroe Street, Vermont Avenue, and Vernon Avenue. V is notable for being the only line in the Los Angeles Railway to completely avoid Downtown Los Angeles (C, E, K, and M also did this, but were all rerouted or discontinued by 1950. This unique route also meant that it connected with every other route at some point.
